Equipment Used

The system consists of multiple "Medical Emergency" call points, similar in appearance to Fire Alarm call points but coloured Blue or Yellow and prominently labelled as "Medical Emergency"

Several loudspeaker horns and / or ceiling speakers are located at strategic positions, these relay the Medical Emergency messages.

A central controller and amplifier is located in a secure position. The controller has up to 20 site specific messages programmed into it.

Principle of Operation

In the event of a medical emergency the staff would activate the closest "Medical Emergency" call point in the same way that they would activate a Fire Alarm call point.

The system will recognise the location where the activation has taken place.

The system will broadcast a bespoke message to all areas where Tannoy speakers have been fitted. The normal format for these messages would be "Medical Emergency in XXXXXX First Aider please respond" Click the audio file to the right for an example.

The message can repeat as many times as the client wishes.

If required, a code will need to be entered in order to acknowledge the Emergency and silence the speakers, this would also act as a reminder that the Call Point requires resetting. Alternatively they can self silence after a pre determined time.

Other Uses

The system can be pre programmed with any other type of message. Some clients have found that programming system to warn of Fire Alarm tests and then to advise when the fire alarm test is complete has reduced unnecessary false evacuations of buildings. Any type of message can be entered.
