Medical Thermal Imaging Cameras for detection of fever level temperatures
Introduction

A thermographic camera (also called an infrared camera or thermal imaging camera) is a device that forms an image using infrared radiation, similar to a common camera that forms an image using visible light. Instead of the 400–700 nanometre range of the visible light camera, infrared cameras operate in wavelengths as long as 14,000 nm (14 µm). These cameras are widely used in the early detection of high temperatures in potential human virus carriers and have been widely seen on our TV screens in use as such places as Airports and Vehicle Check Points.

Services Offered

We supply, engineer, install, specify and maintain Thermal Imaging cameras, both fixed and hand held units.

Latest technology

Uncooled thermal cameras use a sensor operating at ambient temperature, or a sensor stabilized at a temperature close to ambient using small temperature control elements. Modern uncooled detectors all use sensors that work by the change of resistance, voltage or current when heated by infrared radiation. These changes are then measured and compared to the values at the operating temperature of the sensor.

Uncooled infrared sensors can be stabilized to an operating temperature to reduce image noise, but they are not cooled to low temperatures and do not require bulky, expensive cryogenic coolers. This makes infrared cameras smaller and less costly.

Typical sensitivity to heat will be +/- 0.5 degrees C

By far our most popular camera at the moment is the hand held or tripod mounted HIK Vision DS-2TP31B-3AUF Body Temperature Measurement Camera which is demonstrated above.

These units have already proven popular with schools, nurseries, industrial sites and retail outlets.
For a more permanent solution fixed cameras can be installed at all entrances linked to a Central Monitoring Station where any temperature detected that is above a pre set threshold will be immediately reported to a remote operator. When combined with an Access Control System this can then be used to remotely identify and then deny entry to a person that may be showing symptoms.
