Vehicle Logging Systems

Many large organisations operate multiple

vehicles, tractor units and trailers, all of which

require logging in and out of main supply and

operation depots.

This will normally entail a security guard or site
co-ordinator manually entering registration or
plant/trailer identifier numbers onto a manual
sheet with the information being correlated at a
later time, an inefficient and time consuming
method that makes the immediate identification
of the status of the vehicle or trailer difficult to
achieve.

One solution is to fit GPS trackers, however,
these can be very costly when multiplied by
every vehicle, trailer, tractor unit and plant item
and these trackers ultimately require power,
not an issue with a vehicle but a continuous
problem with some plant or trailers.

UKWT can supply and install a system that will

log each vehicle, trailer and piece of plant into

and out of the site automatically, loading that

information onto an easily searchable database

that can, at the push of a button, give the

following information

• Last known position (in or out)
• What equipment or vehicles are on or off
site
• Times that the vehicle or plant arrived or
left

The system can also be configured to

• Sound an alarm if a "barred" vehicle or
item attempts to leave
• Email a user (connection to internal email
server required) if a   specified item enters
or leaves
• Automatically open barriers upon
detection
• Raise "anti theft" bollards if an
unauthorised vehicle attempts to leave

The system works by the fitting of a minimum
(no maximum amount) of hands free proximity
readers, 1 at each entrance, 1 at each exit.
Each vehicle, trailer or item of plant is then
fitted with a proximity RFID tag which requires
no power of any type. The tag does NOT have
to be fitted in the windscreen, it simply has to
be on the exterior of the vehicle (or behind
glass) on the same side of the vehicle as the
reader (normally the drivers side) in a location
that will pass within 4 metres of the external
reader. Heavy Duty tags specifically designed
for this purpose are fitted.

When the RFID tag is detected by the system,
the vehicle will be logged "in" or "out" and is
uniquely identified by its dedicated tag. This
information is then fed into a database that
recognises the vehicle and its location which
can then be interrogated by any authorised
user.

Once the main system is installed, adding
additional vehicles or items can be done by the
user, with each additional RFID tag only costing
(as of March 2022) £20.00 plus VAT and this is
easily fitted and configured by the client.

As the system is based upon our Access Control
software, it can be used as the basis for a
future site wide system to control everything
from doors to barriers to fuel pumps to roller
shutters.
